Who can join the MyOpenData Community?

Anyone can join MyOpenData. MyOpenData is available on a free search / Pay As You Go basis. Members can create and save as many searches as they like and only pay for what data they download.

How much does it cost to join MyOpenData?

It costs nothing to join MyOpenData. You can search and save for free, and the only time you will ever pay anything is when you download data. Even then, you will only pay for what you download.

How do I register for MyOpenData membership?

How do I pay for data?

MyOpenData works on a Pay As You Go basis. Payment is by credit or debit card. You only pay when you are ready to download the actual data and not before.

How do I cancel my MyOpenData membership?

MyOpenData membership can be halted by emailing support@myopendata.co.uk at any time using the words 'Cancel Membership' in the email header. Your free membership will be removed within two working days.

What does the MyOpenData newsletter contain?

The MyOpenData newsletter is designed for notification purposes only, and is not marketing.

Its purpose is simply to alert members to any new open data sources, algorithms and features that have been added within the last month, and to provide the answers to frequently asked questions.

MyOpenData is GDPR compliant and members are given the ability to opt out of the newsletter if they wish.

How can I unsubscribe from the MyOpenData Newsletter?

Members of MyOpenData can opt out of the newsletter at any time using the unsubscribe link in the footer of the email, or by unticking the newsletter approval box under contact preferences in their account settings.

I’m leaving my current job role; can I take my membership with me?

Technically, the ownership of the membership lies with whoever owns the email that is registered, and any potential dispute between the owner and user lies outside the scope of the MyOpenData terms and conditions.

However, the MyOpenData account settings allow the user to create other users from within their company, educational establishment, charity or government body account settings, and we advise users to set this up in accordance with whoever owns the email rights.

As a last resort, MyOpenData reserves the right to suspend and add new users as needed upon provision of proof of email ownership by the owner.

(Let's be transparent: Yes, you can take the membership with you, but you need to be aware that the owner of the registered email address might direct us to suspend your membership if they so wish.)
